Of course we of the Hazzard Nation , love the General Lee. Heck I had one, until my kid trashed it while I was doing duty in the UCSMC. But here’s my question, why not look at the rest of the rides in the series? Even custom versions.
My tow truck took that path in 1982 after I got back from the Salt Lake City AutoRama, I knew I was not going to pass, for Bo or Luke Duke. That said, many said and in real life I mirrored Cooter both in looks and vocation.
So build a modified ultra custom tow truck, worthy of the ultimate mechanic of Hazzard County.
The first name we applied was Cooter’s Hooker, but many said while cute would not go well with the kids and teens at shows. So we started coming up with many names. From Cooter’s Caddy, to others, settling on LexiBelle.
With that in mind and since every other version, of color of tow truck for our ace wrench of Hazzard County, I stumbled upon, John Deere green, yellow, black. Hey Hazzard is a farm town after all.
Construction of the 1975 Chevy 1 ton tow truck started in March of 1982, with construction still going on. Since LexiBelle is in reality my real go tow truck as well as show tow truck.
Custom Bucket seats from a Vega wagon adorned the cab at first, but was replaced with ultra plush units from a Ford Explorer. Remember one tow truck or two of Cooter’s were Fords.
A Grant GT steering wheel, carpeted floor and headliner, 10 speed transmission 5 low, 5 high air shifted. The real talker? 582 cubic inches of NOS Edlebrock Carbureted big block Chevy, running right at just under 700 horsepower.
Like I said more going on that few see , yet.
My other project was a concept suggested in a paperback book of the Dukes, called Roscoe's Exterminator. A fully blown big inch super patrol car. The concept is from a model car and pro stock drag racing car of the era called Cop Out. A super modified Plymouth Satellite Sebring Plus, Chrome prisoner cage and 800 horse of asphalt kicking Mopar hemi.
Tubbed rears the entire pro street look and might was there.
The minds of the Hazzard Knytes thought hey we can do this, only for Sheriff Roscoe so he could have at least a runnin chance at them Duke Boys.
Then of course there’s Daisy’s Jeep and others. Question again, how about doing other rides of Hazzard , besides the famed General?
The 2013 running for our Miss Hazzard County is under way. $150k model/talent contract with Southern Steele Studios, and Confederate Star TV, to be eligible ya’ll must be one hot southern honey of Hazzard quality, at least 21 years old, with a rebel nature. Is this you? Enter at knytesofanarchy@yahoo.com .
More Sunday, headed to Hazzard Lake.
L8R Ya’ll keep it tween the ditches,
