I just wanted to expand the conversation ya’ll had with me on air tonight.
I think that while useful as a marketing tool and all Facefart (Facebook) is a place for all too many people without a life. Or women who have no job, are satisfied milking the system for money to live on, as well as siphoning money out of some single guy who has his mind in his pecker to pay for what Welfare and state aid wont.
Oh sure many get online to establish some odd Huey Hogg scam business, but ultimately go broke. Hazzard sake, if someone says hey I’ll give you a job. If you’re a member of the Hazzard Nation you already partly qualify.
Since 1982 all too many of the officers of the Hazzard Knytes(aka:Knytes-of-Anarchy) have never asked for, or gotten one single penny or euro for doing our duties to the club, even though many of us have spent a bunch of money of our own doing it.
That said with increasing demands on many of us keeping a roof over our own heads, the need for help at the club’s radio station, as well as the upcoming launch of Confederate Star Television or CST, requires recruiting .
So there’s a few that I met online through the flag scare last week that’d make good interns if not good employees. They already Know thing Hazzard County, with some education they could absorb Sons of Anarchy and Airwolf things and be good employees.
Now when I started in radio, I was damn lucky if I made $20,000.00 a year starting out. Yet when I pitch $50,000.00 nobody hardly gets interested. Now granted pulling up stakes and moving to Burley Idaho is most likely not a drawing card. Even Idaho itself is not a drawing card. After all , if it wasn’t for the Boise State University Bronco’s football team here Idaho wouldn’t have one damn thing to light up the sky with. At least on the surface.
For the basic Dukes-of-Hazzard fan, many of the story lines were derived from ideas we as a club here in Idaho provided the writers of the Dukes. Granted our group was not illuminated and all like others might be. Yes I got lucky to have a distant cousin working in the series as the lonely radio guy on WHOGG, Hazzard County’s only radio station. But all came from IDAHO> .
Yes I bad mouth Idaho a lot. Anybody who reads the blogs or hears my shows on air here, knows I think Idaho is at minimum 200 years in reverse, I also think that all too many of our Idaho resident citizens are anal retentive. However the sunsets, sunrises, open air and shaking hands with nature in Idaho covers the stupidity. Which is why the Hazzard Knytes and I do what we do. It was said in two Dukes episodes, if it could happen anywhere it will happen in Hazzard County. I have that phrase on a license plate frame on Lexibelle. Which leads to the Hazzard Knytes motto, Don’t ever ask why, ask why not? But getting back.
I remember when I jumped online just a few years ago. About 1995 or so. From Yahoo, to MySpace social networks like those with chat rooms, and all it seemed were for people who had not one damn thing better to do. Seems like chat rooms were and are a thing of therapy for many. At least its better than talking to yourself or getting rejected at the bar? But damn Sam, figure out that there is a whole great world out there, ready to be explored.
The Duke Boys never just stayed at home, they went out and made fun. Sure they had the General Lee, and perhaps jumping your Toyota Prius is not recommended. But get involved in something, even if its watching old reruns of the Dukes.
Take a walk out of the damn house. Get away from the damn computer and keyboard.
If nothing else , take a chance, come work for the Hazzard Knytes, you’ll never know what its like in the real Hazzard County until you really live here.
